“When the guys at Koi Talk asked me to look at a Koi for under £500, I immediately jumped to a GoSanke variety, but then I thought there’s so much more than just GoSanke. So I thought I would mix it up a bit with something a bit different. I do like the weird and wonderful, and you can find quite a lot of this at Maruhiro Koi Farm. The Kogane Ochiba (metallic-based Ochiba) has become very popular in recent years. They are certainly different and they grow like mad, similar to that of Maruhiro Chagoi. This Koi has a fantastic shine, great structure, and pattern. You will find that the colour will fluctuate throughout the year and this gold colour will become even richer, which will really enhance that character pattern on the head. This Koi is unique, has great size potential and they are real characters of the pond.”
